Represented by the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC), this strategic agreement aims to implement a highly critical 500 kV overhead transmission line project across the country.
This major national infrastructure initiative coincides with the grand inauguration of IGC’s brand-new regional headquarters in Cairo. The state-of-the-art office will serve as the company’s central operational hub for both Egypt and North Africa, highlighting the group’s long-term commitment to boosting investments and expanding its regional footprint.
Project Scope: Connecting Wind Energy to the National Grid
The turn-key engineering project focuses heavily on the engineering, procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning of Lot 2 of the 500 kV overhead transmission line. The planned path will extend approximately 61.6 kilometers, running from the Orascom Substation directly to the El Hawamdeya Substation.
Designed with four robust conductors per phase, the transmission line is specifically engineered to safely transport massive amounts of clean electricity generated from wind energy projects located in the Gulf of Suez. The project will be delivered seamlessly by a specialized consortium led by IGC Egypt in partnership with IGC UAE, merging regional expertise for large-scale execution.
The strategic agreement was signed by Eng. Mona Rizk, Chairperson of EETC, and Eng. Mostafa Nabil El Geziry, CEO of Intelligent Group, in the presence of key leadership including Eng. Ali Mousa, Chief Commercial Officer.
Supporting National Renewable Energy Goals
The project aligns with the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy’s long-term strategy to reinforce the national grid’s capacity under the continuous oversight of H.E. Dr. Eng. Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy.
Eng. Mohamed Amara, Chairman of Intelligent Group, expressed deep pride in this partnership:
“We are proud to partner with the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, represented by EETC, and we highly value the confidence placed in us to deliver this strategic project. This marks another important milestone for Intelligent Group in the Egyptian market and coincides with the launch of our regional office in Cairo,” Eng. Amara commented.
He further highlighted the technical evolution taking place in the regional market:
“The energy sector across the region is undergoing unprecedented transformation, driven by smart grids, renewable energy, and digitalization. At IGC, we provide a fully integrated platform covering engineering, manufacturing, construction, and automation solutions in line with the highest international standards.”
