LMD Unveils Advanced District Cooling System for One Ninety, Setting New Standards in Sustainable Urban Living

Landmark Developments (LMD), Egypt’s leading real estate developer, announced the launch of its most advanced District Cooling Plant (DCP) at its flagship One Ninety project in New Cairo. The system was delivered in partnership with Medcom – MLE as contractor and Allied as consultant, reinforcing LMD’s commitment to world-class infrastructure and sustainable urban development.

One Ninety: Egypt’s Premier Mixed-Use Destination

Strategically located at the intersection of South 90th Street and the Ring Road, One Ninety integrates business, hospitality, retail, and residential experiences in a vibrant, walkable environment. The development hosts Cairo Design District, the Business Quarter, luxury hotels, and curated lifestyle destinations, making it one of the most dynamic urban hubs in Egypt.

Cutting-Edge Cooling Technology for Comfort and Efficiency

The new DCP is a centralized cooling system that produces and distributes chilled water across the entire development. By replacing traditional standalone air-conditioning units with a single high-performance network, the system reduces energy consumption, lowers maintenance requirements, and enhances reliability. The plant includes EVAPCO cooling towers, Schneider electrical panels, Elsewedy transformers, and TRANE chillers, ensuring global-grade performance.

Scalable, Smart, and Sustainable

With a total installed cooling capacity of 9,350 TR, high-efficiency chillers (0.6167 kW per ton), and full N+1 redundancy, the system guarantees continuous operation. SCADA-based real-time monitoring, variable-speed drives, automated blowdown, drift eliminators, and chemical dosing enhance energy and water efficiency, delivering a resilient solution for One Ninety’s mixed-use buildings.

Hybrid and Environmentally Responsible Design

The DCP integrates a hybrid configuration of electric and gas-powered chillers, smart water management, and advanced automation to minimize energy use and environmental footprint. This system supports LMD’s broader sustainability strategy, providing a resource-efficient, low-emission solution that aligns with global best practices in sustainable urban planning.

LMD’s Vision for Sustainable Urban Living

Eng. Amr Sultan, CEO of LMD, stated: “The DCP is a milestone reflecting our commitment to comfort, efficiency, and sustainability. It ensures residents, visitors, and businesses at One Ninety enjoy the very best of New Cairo while supporting a more resource-efficient urban environment”.
